Role in the AMOS Project

McGill will:

  • Conduct study of wire and powder DED process accuracy, repeatability and material interface integrity of Ti6Al4V and 300M alloy steel.
  • Develop defect recognition and mapping system that is able to generate geometric representations needed to be reconstructed via DED processes
  • Develop an accurate thermomechanical model of the metal solidification process and phase transformation process.
  • Develop multidisciplinary design optimization method that enables more resilient life cycle solutions by considering the common defects and suitable repair strategies provided by DED systems.
  • Gather data throughout the project for the qualification procedure of employing DED as effective and economic repair method.
